Gate from the Beijing City Fortifications

Hardwood with red lacquer finish; double-leaf gate symmetrically divided into four panels per side, segmented by forged, riveted iron straps. Decorated iron sliding-bolt lock on a plain lock plate. Two movable rings serving as door knockers, and two applied forged butterflies as auspicious symbols. Reverse with wooden bar closure. Solid construction in attractive condition.
